Supporting the Community

Our practice loves supporting these local organisations that are performing work we really believe in.

We have a responsibility for the people and animals that surround us, and I think that we need to do a lot more to help our neighbours and environment – as the old saying goes, charity begins at home and for us, home is Ballarat. We believe we have to be involved in a positive way as the old saying ‘bad things happen when good people do nothing’ is really true.

The Soup Bus

The Soup Bus is a great local charity that provides food to people who are homeless or living in marginal conditions in the Ballarat area, it travels around to a number of sites to serve food to the homeless, but they have other programs as well, here is a link to a YouTube explaining some of their work. The school scholarship program is a great concept. This year their major fund-raiser, the Ball mentioned in the video title, had to be cancelled, which is a big set-back for the program.

Ballarat Wildlife Park

The Ballarat Wildlife Park has grown to be a great resource for Ballarat, with lots of animals from Australia and some from overseas as well, but they are famous for how close you can be with the animals, the wallabies will eat from your hand and it is possible to spend time with koalas and wombats close-up.

We chose to support the Tasmanian Devils as they are Australian and have awesome teeth. We also admire the conservation work a lot of captive breeding programs are doing to try to stop the oral cancers affecting wild Devil populations from wiping them out. So many Australian animals are at risk of extinction at the moment.
